"Thanks to production caps put in place by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the ADHD medication shortage will continue — with no end in sight."
I think that well intentioned licensed providers are likely the only ones who care or would even advocate for patients. Neither gov or big pharma are going to do anything (don't think it's gov role to do so, but individual state govs could) and they don't care. It's all about money & power to them, in the meantime this medication problem continues to worsen. After the last 3 years of on/off treatment and other events, I've lost faith in western medicine. I'm ready to give up. Adhd has already damaged my life & career and I can't repair that or start over. I'm hoping I can find an alternative treatment that offers any degree of relief until the situation changes, if it ever does. I suspect that this man-made med shortage will increase demand and ultimately the cost of meds. In my area, many prescription medications are unavailable or in low supply.
The bad actors are definitely still out there.
Nurse practitioners have minimal training and are self-employed therefore incentivized to agree to patient request for stimulants along w HRT testosterone iv clinic Botox …. Stimulant prescriptions by NP increased in 2020 to2021 by 72%.
I really wish someone would hear your words! Adults and children that need these medications for daily functioning are losing unimaginable amounts of productivity due to executive function issues. Adults lose jobs and careers and students behavior in schools ends up with more days of suspensions. With all the media hype about mental health and decreasing the stigma of mental health diagnosis's, it seems it is just that, media hype, no real help and no real change that is beneficial to those that need it. Yet another truly sad reality in the U.S. these days.
