Warsaw, Poland – A new opinion poll has revealed a significant decline in Polish public support for continued military aid to Ukraine. More than half of respondents expressed their opposition to sending new weapons and military equipment to Kyiv. According to the poll results, 53% of Poles rejected continued military support for Ukraine, compared to 36% who supported continued aid, while 11% were undecided. These figures indicate a clear shift in public sentiment in Poland compared to the beginning of the war. At the start of the conflict, public support for providing military assistance to Kyiv was much higher. This comes amid growing concerns about the continuation of the war and its economic and security repercussions.
This shift comes at a time when Warsaw continues to provide support to Ukraine, being one of Kyiv’s most prominent backers. This places the Polish government in a position of increasing divergence between its official stance and the sentiments of a broad segment of public opinion. Observers believe that the protracted war and its growing financial burden, along with fears of a wider conflict, may be among the most significant factors leading a growing number of Poles to reconsider their position on continued military aid to Ukraine.
