Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said Monday that a criminal investigation into Gov. Katie Hobbs’ ties to a state contractor that donated $400,000 to benefit Hobbs and the Democratic Party is “near the end.”
Mayes signaled that results would come before the November election. However, she repeatedly declined to say whether the governor would sit for a formal interview before the probe wraps up.
“I feel confident that we’re going to get the information that we need to conclude the investigation,” Mayes told reporters Monday.
As reported by Axios, the investigation centers on allegations that Sunshine Residential Homes, a foster care provider, received preferential treatment from the Hobbs administration after making major donations to Hobbs and the state Democratic Party.
Mayes’ office has been seeking an interview with the governor for most of the year, but no date has been set.
The investigation has become a political flashpoint in the governor’s race. Republican nominee Andy Biggs has made the probe a centerpiece of his campaign against Hobbs, running ads accusing her of awarding a lucrative state contract to a donor.
The comments came at a news conference where Mayes announced a new 25-state lawsuit challenging President Donald Trump’s latest round of tariffs.

Because there can not be any corruption when it comes to our elected government officials.
Mayes is near the end…of sweeping this scandal under the rug.
1. If Mayes concludes Hobbs did not commit any crimes will the MAGA simpletons believe it? Will independents and moderates?
2. If Mayes concludes Hobbs has criminal exposure and pursues an indictment, will the Dems offer another candidate?
3. When will we find out how much crypto The Idiot has skimmed off all the no-bid contracts his administration has awarded to his donors?
