Ex-S.C. teacher charged with child sex crimes, HIV exposure – WRDW

COLUMBIA, S.C. – An ex-South Carolina teacher has received additional charges related to child sex crimes and exposing others to HIV.
Eric Favor Jr., 29, was arrested in Marion County on Feb. 10 on charges including second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, third-degree criminal sexual conduct of a minor, promoting prostitution of a minor and criminal conspiracy.
Favor was further charged on April 9 with two counts of exposing another person to HIV.
Documents from the South Carolina Department of Education dated March 9 state that Favor, who taught social studies at Lower Richland High School, resigned from Richland School District One on the day of his arrest.
The agency also suspended his teaching license, noting that Favor “may pose a threat to the health, safety and welfare of students who may be under his instruction.”
Authorities in Marion County said Favor’s arrest came after an investigation that began in 2024 involving two underage victims. No further details about the allegations have been released. Favor previously taught at Johnakin Middle School, located in Marion County.
Richland One confirmed Favor also previously taught at Southeast Middle School.
As of April 13, records show Favor is being held at the Marion County Detention Center after his bond was denied.
